皆様、こんにちは。
韓国はコジェ市の国際展覧会に行って、昨日帰国いたしました。
実はお隣の国、韓国に行くのは今回が生まれて初めてでしたが、
韓国の人々の実に温かい情にたくさん触れ、本当に素晴らしい旅となりました。

訪れた Haegeumgang Theme Museum では、突然の訪問にもかかわらず、
職員の方にランチとカフェに招待され、コジェ市のバスターミナルまでの
帰りのタクシーまで用意してくださいました。
さらに美術館証明の立派な certificate を2通もすぐに発行してくれました。
どうして一日本人にここまで親切にしてくれるのでしょうか。

お二人のお陰で最高の Warm Memories ができました。
魚の鍋料理のランチ、最高においしかったです！
僕の手を強く握りしめて放さなかったカフェのおじさん、
帰りのタクシーの運転手、
3泊した釜山南浦のチャガルチ市場棟、新東亜市場棟の界隈、
彼らの逞しい生活力と直接言葉に出して表現する愛情の深さに多いに学ぶところがありました。
そして料理がまたうまいですね！市場の地下食堂の朝定食だけで何と14皿！
僕も魚市場で働く人たちや市井の人たちと並んで多いに食べて、マッコリや焼酎を飲みました！
僕は今回の滞在で韓国の人たちが本当に好きになりました。
この人たちと私たちは絶対に仲よくしていかなければいけない！
皆さん、本当にありがとう！
訪れてとてもよかったです！
また展覧会で必ず韓国に行きます！

Dear friends,

I visited Haegeumgang Theme Museum, Geoje, South Korea to watch an International Art Exhibition “Symbols & Metaphors” as a participating artist, and returned home yesterday. In fact, this was my first trip to our neighbor, South Korea. It was a really wonderful trip touching a lot of the warmth of Korean people. Despite my sudden visit, I was invited by staff to lunch and cafe, moreover they prepared a return taxi to the bus terminal in Geoje City for me. Then they immediately issued me two fine certificates of the museum. Why is it so kind to a Japanese artist? Thank you very much, Doyoung, Agnes! I had the best warm memories thanks to both of you! The fish pot food lunch was the best! I really loved Korean people during this stay. We must absolutely get along with Korean people! Thank you very much to everyone I met on this trip! It was really nice to visit! I’ll definitely go to Korea again for the next exhibition!

2019年11月1日(金)から12月25日(水)まで韓国コジェ市の Yukyung Art Museum で開催される国際展覧会 “Symbols & Metaphors” に参加します。
この展覧会には、 Argentina, Austria, Canada, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, USA の11カ国から、のべ17人のアーティストが参加します。
今年制作した僕の作品 “Dear Grid Worker No.8” が展示されます。
当初の会期が1ヶ月延長され2ヶ月間展示されることになり、とても光栄です。

皆様、こんにちは。
僕の作品が初めて美術館に所蔵されることになりました。
その作品は今年描いたDear Grid Worker No.8 で、今年の11月に韓国のGeoje市にあるYukyung Art Museum で1ヶ月間展示された後に所蔵されます。
このプロジェクトを進めてくれたニューヨークのギャラリーに感謝しています。

以前にもこのサイトに書きましたが、これからは人種、宗教、性別、年齢、国籍、学歴などにこだわっている人間はまったくやっていけない、というのが僕の基本的な考え方ですので、僕は普段森の中で制作し、この3年間はニューヨークを主たる発表の場にしてきましたが、僕としては発表の場所も所蔵される美術館も五大陸どこでも全然OKです。
ましてや韓国にはパリのアカデミー時代、韓国人の女性アーティストが何人か留学してきていて、Artozoul 教授の元、同じ一つのアトリエで共に親しく切磋琢磨したあたたかい思い出があります。

病気や手術、老化など・・・どうなるかはわかりませんが、僕は75歳まで全力で絵を描きたい。
そして今、これまでの僕のすべてを土台にして、新しい風景画が何か創造できるのではないかと熱中しています。ああ、それにしても外にエスキースを作りに描きにいくのは何て楽しいのでしょう！僕はアトリエにこもってばかりで、この純粋な喜びをしばらく忘れていました。

フランスのマントノン時代、Chimay という小さな集落の中を流れる小川に沿ったところに秘密の場所があってよくそこに描きに行きました。
もちろん自動車なんてないから、オランダ製のガゼルという昔で言ったらよくお豆腐屋さんが町の中を引いて売りに来ていたような頑丈な自転車に画材をすべて積んで重いペダルを漕いでは毎日のように通っていました。そしてあの小川のほとりで様々なことを学びました。

これからも楽しみは鶏の飼育と犬の散歩、秋の森のキノコ狩りと春の山菜採りくらいにして、一切手をゆるめることなく、ひたすら日々集中していくだけです。

それにしても北軽井沢の自然は美しい！フランスのウール・エ・ロワール県の自転車を漕いで回ったあの村々の美しさとまったく対等ですね。いや山がある分、北軽井沢の方が美しいかもしれない、でもフランスのあの信じられないくらい美しい村の教会がないな、いやこの地域には人っ子一人いない美しい神社がひっそりと点在しているので、やっぱり互角だな。

It is my pleasure to inform you that my artwork “Dear Grid Worker No.8” will be displayed at Yukyung Art Museum in Geoje, South Korea on November 1-30, 2019, and after the one-month museum exhibition the artwork will be included in the Museum Collection. It will be my first museum collection in my career. Yukyung Art Museum is part of Haegeumgang Theme Museum created to establish a link between the Korean tradition and contemporary art and culture. I have warm memories for Korean people. When I was attending the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris, there were several Korean female artists who studied closely together under the guidance of Professor Artozoul in the same atelier. From now on I will continue my painting path while producing in Kitakaruizawa’s deep forests and the rural beauty surrounded my studio. And I would like to seek the path to be independent of race, religion, gender, age, nationality, educational background, etc. Now I am concentrating on creating my new landscape based on everything I have done so far. Thank you very much, especially to a New York gallery for promoting me this project!
